Entrepreneur Research: How I Built This
In this project, I listened to an NPR podcast about an entrepreneur of my choice - in this case, Jimmy Wales the founder of Wikipedia. I then did further research on him and presented that information to the class using Google Slides. It was an interesting project because I had never heard of Jimmy Wales before, and was able to learn his story - as well as that of Wikipedia's creation. It also helped me to learn more about being an entrepreneur and creating a product or service.

7X7: 7 Slides in 7 Minutes
This was a partner project, in which we analyzed how a product is advertised. My partner and I chose the Amazon Echo Dot as ours. We then presented multiple ads for it (a mixture of pictures and videos) to the class, along with our own analyses of them. This helped me learn more about how advertisements work.

WSI: World Series of Innovation
This is a yearly competition held by NFTE, in which participants in the program create their own business ideas that attempt to solve one of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. First, I was partnered with two other students, and we researched Goal #4, Responsible Consumption, and presented our research to the class. I then partnered with two different students, and together we created the idea for SafeRescue, a disaster aid nonprofit; we then submitted the outline for it on the WSI website. This project was my first time entering a competition like that, and also gave me a better sense of the process of creating and refining a business idea.

SWOT Analysis
Corporate Social Responsibility
This was a partner project in which I learned about what corporate social responsibility is and what some examples of it are. My partner and I then presented to the class about a business of our choice - in this case, Trader Joe's - and how it practices corporate social responsibility. Thanks to this project, I know what CSR is and how to look for it - not to mention how to practice it if I create a product or service.

TED Talk
This semester, each student in the class had to do a five-minute TED Talk on a topic of their choice. I chose self-confidence for mine due to its personal significance to me; I had issues with it in the past and thus had much to say about it. This project was deeply personal to me, but doing it allowed me to look back on my experiences and see them in a new light, and maybe even come to terms with them.

Business Proposal
This was the second semester's major project. I worked with a partner to create an app called LoveMind, which sends positive messages to help people who are stressed or dealing with depression. We then traveled to SF State University, where we presented our product to a panel of three NFTE experts. This was the most in-depth and intensive out of all the projects we did, incorporating most of the things we learned over the course of the year. By doing it, I was able to solidify what I learned from StartUp Academy, and also improve my ability to present in front of a professional audience.
